AECOM  is seeking a Senior Cost Estimator  to base in Dallas/Fort Worth, TX . The selected candidate will play a key role in delivering complex airport and airfield infrastructure projects across the region, supporting our mission to create safe, efficient, and future-ready aviation environments.

Job Summary

As a Senior Cost Estimator within AECOM’s Aviation team, you will be responsible for developing, reviewing, and managing cost estimates for multidisciplinary aviation projects. This role requires expertise in conceptual, schematic, and detailed estimates for airside and landside projects, including terminals, runways, taxiways, parking, utilities, and support facilities. The ideal candidate will bring deep experience in construction means and methods, estimating systems, and industry standards, with the ability to lead estimating efforts and mentor junior staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and oversee cost estimates across all project phases—from conceptual to final design—ensuring accuracy, consistency, and alignment with project objectives.
  • Analyze drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive estimates.
  • Evaluate contractor and vendor proposals for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with project requirements.
  • Develop detailed quantity takeoffs and cost models using recognized estimating software and tools.
  • Participate in risk assessments, cost control, and value engineering studies to ensure cost-effective solutions.
  • Support project managers and design teams with budget tracking, cost trending, and forecasting during project execution.
  • Provide input on project schedules, constructability, and phasing considerations that impact cost.
  • Prepare cost reports and presentations for clients, internal leadership, and external stakeholders.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior estimators within the team.
  • Support proposal and business development efforts, including scope definition and cost benchmarking.

Qualifications



Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS + 10 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, including 2 years of leadership

Qualifications

  • 15–20 years of cost estimating experience , ideally supporting large-scale aviation, transportation, or infrastructure projects.
  • Certification in estimating or project controls (e.g., Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) , AACE Certified Cost Professional (CCP) , or PMP ).
  • Experience with major airport authorities or aviation clients (FAA, DFW Airport, Love Field, etc.).
  • Prior experience within a multidisciplinary engineering or program management environment.
  • Familiarity with Primavera P6, Oracle Unifier, or similar cost/schedule management systems.
  • Proven experience preparing estimates for a wide range of project delivery methods (Design-Bid-Build, CMAR, Design-Build, etc.).
  • Strong proficiency in cost estimating tools such as Sage/Timberline, RSMeans, On-Screen Takeoff, or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of current construction practices, materials, and regional cost trends.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
