Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Coding Specialist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate coding of medical records, facilitating efficient billing processes, and maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations. This position requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, coding systems, and the ability to work collaboratively within a medical office environment.
Responsibilities
- Accurately code patient diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10 and HCPCS coding systems.
- Review and analyze medical records to ensure completeness and accuracy of documentation.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify any discrepancies in patient records.
- Process medical billing claims in accordance with established protocols.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding guidelines, regulations, and best practices.
- Assist in the management of medical collections by ensuring timely follow-up on outstanding claims.
- Provide support in training staff on proper coding practices and medical terminology.
Experience
- Proven experience in medical coding within a family practice setting is preferred.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, billing systems, and electronic health records (EHR).
- Knowledge of medical collections processes and compliance regulations.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
